Stephanos Gabriel Vlachos
He was actively involved with the college student movement of the time and was president of the college student association. After his military service and rural service, he specialized in Cardiology with professors Gazetopoulos and Kremastinos.
He worked successively in the Hospitals “EVANGELISMOS”, “AGIOS SAVVAS”, “SOTIRIA” and “GENERAL STATE OF ATHENS”. He was an executive of EINAP (Association of Medical Hospitals of Athens – Piraeus) and for a long time elected member of the three-member committee of doctors of “EVANGELISMOS”. He offered his medical services on a non-profit basis, for three years (1992-1995) at K.A.P.I. Petersburg.
He participated in the treatment of residents of the earthquake-stricken areas in 1999, offering medical services. He took part in many scientific conferences in Greece and abroad and participated in the writing of many scientific publications.
He was first elected mayor of Petroupolis city in the 2002 elections. In the 2006 elections he was re-elected from the first Sunday. In May 2019 he was elected Mayor for the third time.
During his first term (2003 - 2010) squares were built (Iro Square, March 8th - Grove of Agios Dimitrios, rebuilding Heroes 1821 Square), schools, playgrounds etc. A final solution to the issue about boundaries with Ilion city was given, the garbage collection services were upgraded (the garbage collection fleet was purchased and the recycling and composting programs started), social programs (KEP, Help at Home, Food Bank, Fidipidis) were established.
